The function ( in any ) of this embroidery seems unclear. From the dedication it might seem to be a presentation piece. Unfamiliar perhaps in the Indian context this was likely made for the British Raj therefore Anglo-Indian. Set on cream satin silk the embroidery is mounted , framed and glazed.

• The label attached verso reads ‘ to my darling father from his most loving Frances. May 28.  1900 '
